What a pile of bull shit. Yep the 'Beauty Myth' by Naomi Wolfe, was a painful read at times I knew would have more fun ripping out my eyes and slitting my wrists simultaneously. Of course, by most White middle class American feminist, they believe this political viewpoint was created for them and them alone. Not once does Ms Wolfe consider how the beauty myth may affect women of color or those from working class background. She provides not insight as to how black women perceive mainstream magazines that is catered for white women with little or no representation of themselves. Thus the affect it may have upon how they feel society may view their attractiveness. Or how working class women who normally cannot afford such luxuries to make them beauty and how promoting an affluent lifestyle may impact upon them.
